Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior BRS leader T Harish Rao termed 2024 as the year filled with broken promises, rising discontent and failing Telangana under the Congress governance in Telangana. He charged the Congress for failing on multiple fronts and betraying the people’s trust.
Extending New Year wishes to the people of the Telangana and its diaspora on Tuesday, Harish Rao remarked that 2024 witnessed more failures than successes under Congress rule. He criticised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, likening his leadership to that of Ravana, with multiple public opinion surveys revealing widespread dissatisfaction and Revanth Reddy failing to secure even pass marks.
“None of the six guarantees or the 420 manifesto promises have been implemented effectively, despite the Congress being in power for around 390 days. The Congress lacks vision, while its governance proving to be a curse for the people of the State,” he observed.
The former minister pointed to unfulfilled election promises, such as bonus for crops, which he said had now been restricted to a single crop. Similarly, he stated that crop loan waiver amount for farmers and women’s groups were yet to be deposited into the accounts of beneficiaries, several days after the government announced release of funds. Diet charge increases for students also remain unimplemented,” he said.
Harish Rao lashed out the Congress government for prioritising commissions over commitments and failing to address key issues pertaining to education and employment. He pointed out the neglect of Gurukul schools, where student suicides continue, even as the two lakh jobs promise to unemployed youth remains unfulfilled.
He said the Congress government had resorted to diversionary tactics and oppressive policing instead of focusing on governance. “Even in the Assembly, the Chief Minister and Ministers are not hesitating to lie,” he said, adding that Hyderabad’s reputation was tarnished by poor governance.
Harish Rao accused Revanth Reddy of opportunism and colluding with the BJP, leaving the people of Telangana to bear the brunt of unfulfilled promises and mismanagement.
