Harish Rao fires at Congress over LRS scheme, neglect of retired employees in Telangana

"Congress, which once condemned the LRS, has now turned it into a tool to extort Rs 15,000 crores from people under the guise of a special drive. During the elections, they promised free LRS, but now, they are bleeding the public dry," Harish Rao remarked.

Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior BRS leader T Harish Rao came down heavily on the Congress government for breaking electoral promises and neglecting critical sections of society. He criticised the government for its two-faced approach to the Land Regularisation Scheme (LRS), calling it a blatant betrayal of the public trust.

“Congress, which once condemned the LRS, has now turned it into a tool to extort Rs 15,000 crores from people under the guise of a special drive. During the elections, they promised free LRS, but now, they are bleeding the public dry,” Harish Rao remarked. He demanded the scheme be implemented free of charge, honouring the party’s election promise.

In a statement, he ridiculed the government for admitting the collapse of the real estate sector, attributing it to Congress’s chaotic governance. “The Revenue Minister’s assurance that the realty sector would soon improve, exposes the damage Congress has already done to the sector,” he added.

The BRS MLA also pointed to the plight of retired employees, blaming Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s government for failing to ensure the welfare of retired government employees. Highlighting the case of retired ASI Sadhik Ali, who has been awaiting his benefits for eight months, he said, “This neglect is pushing retirees into emotional distress. Nearly 7,000 government employees are waiting for their retirement benefits, even after obtaining court orders.”

Harish Rao said due to pending bills, health schemes like Employees Health Scheme (EHS), Journalists Health Scheme (JHS) and JHS, were on the verge of getting shelved, leaving employees, journalists, and police without access to emergency medical services. He demanded immediate clearance of dues to the network hospitals and retirees, ensuring the continuation of these vital schemes.

The BRS leader urged the government to abandon its “misguided regime” and focus on delivering promises and development. “Successful governance is not about rhetoric but action. The BRS will stand firmly with the people and will fight for justice,” he asserted.
