Sangareddy: Former Minister T Harish Rao demanded that the State government declare a crop holiday for Singur ayacut farmers and announce input subsidy for 40,000 acres of ayacut in Sangareddy and Medak districts.
Addressing the booth-level agents (BLAs) of the BRS in Andole on Wednesday, Harish Rao said that the Congress government had failed to complete the repair works on Singur before the onset of the monsoon. Accusing the government of failing to complete even 25 per cent of the works on the project, Rao said that the government had emptied the reservoir in the name of repair works.
Even though the IMD had predicted drought conditions this year due to El Nino, the former Minister said that the Congress government had failed to complete the works. He said that the Irrigation department was not in a position to store water even if the Manjeera River received heavy inflows from upstream.
Alleging that the Congress government was ignoring the farm sector, he said that it was conspiring to restrict power supply to the agriculture sector to just seven to eight hours a day by establishing Rythu Discom, while the BRS had provided 24-hour power supply.
Rao said that the government had planned to supply power on alternate days to the farm sector, which would harm the interests of farmers. He said that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had failed to release Rythu Bharosa, implement the loan waiver and provide Rythu Bheema benefits to farmers.
Accusing the Congress of neglecting the Sangameshwara Lift Irrigation Project and the Basaveshwara Lift Irrigation Project, he said he would launch a padayatra to expose the government’s negligence. Rao said that the BRS would return to power and resolve all these issues.
Sangareddy MLA Chintha Prabhakar, Andole former MLA Chanti Kranthi Kiran, BRS leaders Jaipal Reddy and others were present.
