Hyderabad: Reacting to the Osmania University Law College campus protests over stale food allegedly being served for several days, BRS senior leader and former Minister T Harish Rao called it a reflection of the dismal state of the education system under the two-year-old Congress government.
Videos and photos circulating on social media showed students displaying poor quality rice and complaining of insects and bad odour in the meals.
Launching a strong attack on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, he said the Congress government had failed to maintain basic standards in student welfare schemes inherited from the previous BRS regime. In a post on X, Harish Rao said even though there was no grain to eat, they were trying to apply scented oil to their moustaches.
“That is exactly how Revanth Reddy’s attitude looks. Students of OU Law College coming onto the roads protesting spoiled food in the mess is a mirror to the pathetic condition of the education system today,” he said.
“The Chief Minister who boasted he would give Rs 1,000 crore to Osmania University cannot even provide one decent meal to the students. This is nothing but shameful. Be it meat curry without meat in government schools, rice with worms in Gurukul schools or rotten food in universities, is this the great achievement of Congress in two years?” he asked, adding that at every step, the government’s negligence towards universities was clearly visible.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has completely failed as the in-charge minister of the education department, he said, appealing to the Chief Minister to stop endangering the future and health of students with his incompetence.
