Heatwave conditions affecting public in Khammam, Warangal
Several mandals in the erstwhile Khammam and Warangal districts witnessed severe heatwave conditions with temperatures touching 46 degrees Celsius on Sunday. Multiple suspected heatstroke deaths were reported from Khammam, Mulugu and Bhupalpally districts as temperatures remained well above normal levels

Khammam/Warangal: Several mandals in the erstwhile Khammam and Warangal districts witnessed heatwave conditions as daytime temperatures reached 46 degrees Celsius on Sunday, while several people died of suspected heatstroke.
According to officials, as many as 15 mandals in Kothagudem, 12 mandals in Khammam, six mandals in Bhupalpally, five mandals in Mulugu and four mandals in Mahabubabad witnessed heatwave conditions as temperatures were 4.5 to 6.4 degrees Celsius above normal.
In Khammam, nine mandals, Yerrupalem, Enkoor, Penuballi, Konijerla, Madhira, Sathupalli, Mudigonda, Chintakani and Raghunathapalem, recorded maximum temperatures of above 46 degrees Celsius, while several others witnessed temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, a 31-year-old D Sai Charan of Gattu Singaram in Kusumanchi mandal in Khammam died of suspected heatstroke on Sunday after falling sick at his house. An aged farmer, Dodda Venkataiah, fell unconscious at his house after returning from his farmland and died at Ramannagudem of Eturunagaram mandal in Mulugu district.
Similarly, in Chityal mandal of Bhupalpally district, a 68-year-old woman, Erraboina Jayalaxmi, died of heatstroke at her house during the day. It was said that she had gone to a nearby hillock to collect firewood to cook food as the gas cylinder had run empty. The family members called an RMP doctor to examine her after she fell unconscious, and the doctor declared her dead.
