Hyderabad: BRS termed the Telangana High Court‘s decision to allow the Maha Dharna in Mahabubabad on November 25, as a tight slap on the face of the Congress government. The protest aims to oppose the Congress government’s land acquisition for private pharma companies in Lagacherla, which has sparked outrage among tribal farmers.

Speaking to mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan on Friday, BRS MLC and former Minister Satyavathi Rathod lashed out at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for constitutional violations and ignoring tribal grievances. She stated that due to the attrocities of the Congress government, tribal women had to travel to Delhi to seek justice. She demanded the cancellation of the proposed Pharma Village in Lagacherla, dubbing it as detrimental to farmers and the environment.

“While Congress leader Rahul Gandhi comes out with the constitution in his hand, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is trying to bury it. Though Revanth Reddy denied permission, the High Court gave nod for our demonstration,” she said.

MLC Takkellapally Ravinder Rao said the Congress government was prioritising private interests over public welfare. He said land acquired for the Pharma City during the BRS regime, was being used for real estate ventures linked to the Chief Minister’s family. “The BRS government always acquired land for public welfare by paying fair compensation, unlike Congress’s profiteering agenda,” he said.

MLC Pochampally Srinivas Reddy criticised the imposition of Section 144 (Section 163 BNSS) and the denial of police permission for the dharna, calling it an attempt to suppress dissent. Former MP Maloth Kavitha confirmed BRS working president KT Rama Rao would attend the protest in support of tribal farmers.
