High voter turnout recorded across 19 municipalities in erstwhile Medak district
Despite alleged attempts by Congress leaders to disrupt polling and encourage fake voting, municipal elections in erstwhile Medak district witnessed a strong voter turnout, with Jinnaram recording the highest polling at 90.98 per cent, officials said

Sangareddy: Despite incidents of Congress leaders allegedly making life difficult for police officials and opposition party workers at several places during polling to 19 municipalities, most civic bodies here recorded a high voter turnout.
Jinnaram municipality in Sangareddy district recorded 90.98 per cent polling, the highest in the erstwhile Medak district, while Gaddapotharam municipality registered 86.08 per cent turnout. However, Sangareddy municipality, the largest civic body, recorded the lowest polling at 70.06 per cent, followed by 72.04 per cent and Narayankhed at 72.64 per cent. The average polling across 11 municipalities in Sangareddy district stood at 76.01 per cent.
In Siddipet district, Dubbak municipality recorded 85.05 per cent polling, while Husnabad registered 84.21 per cent. Cheriyal at 83.41 per cent and Gajwel at 79.35 per cent also witnessed significant turnout. In Medak district, Ramayampet municipality recorded 84.21 per cent polling, while Toopran registered 81.30 per cent turnout. Medak and Narsapur municipalities recorded 80.75 per cent and 74.61 per cent respectively.
Multiple incidents of Congress leaders allegedly attempting to encourage fake voters or disrupt polling and prevent police officials from discharging their duties were reported across the 19 municipalities in the erstwhile Medak district. Despite these challenges, voters made a beeline to polling stations. After observing the polling trend, BRS leaders expressed confidence of securing a majority of the civic bodies.
