HMWSSB issues flood alert as inflows rise sharply in Hyderabad’s twin reservoirs
The HMWSSB has issued a flood warning for Hyderabad’s twin reservoirs, Osmansagar and Himayatsagar, following a significant increase in water inflows and rainfall forecast in their catchment areas. While inflows have been steady over the past week, Wednesday saw a sharp rise, prompting gate releases to manage water levels.
Hyderabad: In view of the heavy inflows into the twin reservoirs, the HMWSSB issued a flood warning alert for Osmansagar and Himayathsagar on Wednesday afternoon.
Due to the increase in inflows and rainfall forecast in both catchment areas, there is a probability that the releases may be increased this evening, according to an official release issued by the HMWSSB.
Though the inflows are constant to the twin reservoirs for the past one week, from Wednesday morning hours, the inflows have been increasing sharply, a senior HMWSSB official told Telangana Today.
The HMWSSB released fresh inflows of the twin reservoirs recorded at 5 pm.
