Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) will undertake a comprehensive study to enhance water storage capacity to meet future requirements in the ‘Core Urban Region Economy’ (CURE) area, comprising the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC).

In a press release on Monday, the Water Board said the study would assess the existing storage infrastructure and identify measures to improve water supply and storage across the area. The initiative is aimed at meeting projected demand and strengthening water supply management in the CURE area.

HMWS&SB Managing Director K Ashok Reddy instructed the concerned officials to conduct a technical feasibility study through consultants and submit a comprehensive report covering future expansion, additional storage capacity and a cost-benefit analysis following the expansion of the Water Board’s service area to CURE.

The technical study will include the interconnection of main pipelines, gravity-based water flow, advance pipeline provisions to avoid disruption of roadworks, and the creation of running storage sufficient for at least one day’s requirement.
