Hyderabad: Kiran Dembla is probably the coolest mom in town. At 46 years and a mother to two kids, the celebrity fitness expert proudly flaunts her six-pack abs in her Instagram feed!
However, Kiran is someone who feels health — physical and mental — is more important than any abs.

“I’m into online training since the pandemic and it’s going great. I’m training thousands of people around the world, including clients in the US. What people love about my routine is that I concentrate on not only their physical health but also their mental health and nutrition. I give equal importance to Yoga and Pranayama as I give to lifting weights. In fact, I suggest those recovering from Covid and its after-effects to indulge in Pranayama every day,” says Kiran, who is currently training the likes of Tamannaah Bhatia, Anushka Shetty and SS Rajamouli.
Sweat it out at home
Kiran believes in simple workouts — climb and get down the stairs if you can’t make it to the gym. Those with knee problems can put their trust in walking and jogging.
When these simple workouts are coupled with Yoga and Pranayama, it does more good to your body than you can imagine. “Eat a lot of fresh fruits and raw vegetables during the day. Finish your dinner before 7 pm, and if you feel hungry during the night, drink some oats or almond milk. Portion control is the key to losing weight,” shares Kiran, adding that simple changes in daily routine can keep most diseases at bay.
Never give up
One shouldn’t complicate life unnecessarily, feels Dembla. With good health and decent fitness levels, life becomes much simpler.
“My client list includes young mothers, housewives and those struggling with mental health problems due to financial and personal issues. Many people think about quitting, and I always talk them out of giving up. Start simple and maintain consistency, but mostly face life with a never-give-up attitude,” says Kiran, who has received mixed reactions from people about her body.
“Some people comment that I look manly, but who cares what they think? I am proud of my body and how far I’ve come. Being a woman and a mother, I take pride in my fitness levels and the fact that I inspire so many other women,” says Kiran, who is also a professional DJ, mountaineer and photographer.
Family support
From being a ‘bahu’ to a bodybuilder, Kiran has come a long way. While her husband was hesitant about her pursuing bodybuilding initially, he later understood her. Kiran’s kids — a son and a daughter — are very supportive of her. “My son is into sports and my daughter into choreography, and they take inspiration from me,” she concludes.
