Honour killing: Parents murder daughter, stage suicide in Telangana’s Karimnagar
A 16-year-old girl, Reddy Archana, was allegedly killed by her parents in Shivarampally after she continued communication with a married man. Police investigations confirmed foul play, leading to the parents’ arrest after they confessed to the crime
Karimnagar: In a shocking incident of honour killing, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly murdered by her parents in Shivarampally of Saidapur mandal. They reportedly tried to project the death as suicide.
Reddy Archana was forcibly administered pesticides by her parents Reddy Raju and Lavanya. In addition, Raju allegedly throttled her.
Though this bizarre incident took place on November 14, it came to light on Thursday. Disclosing details about the honour killing, Huzurabad ACP Madhavi said Archana, an intermediate first-year student, had fallen in love with one Polu Anil and had been chatting with him over the last three months.
Anil was already married and had disputes with his wife and a case of harassment was also registered against him.
Despite parents’ warning, the girl continued chatting with Anil. Fearing that her elopement would affect their elder daughter’s marriage, they allegedly decided to kill her.
As part of their plan, Raju and Lavanya administered poison to the girl on November 14 night. The next day, Raju lodged a complaint with the police stating that his daughter died unable to tolerate severe stomach pain.
As part of the investigation, the police learnt that the deceased was not suffering from stomach pain. It was also established in the FSL report that the girl’s neck bone was damaged. When questioned, Raju confessed to the crime to the village deputy sarpanch.
Based on the information given by the deputy sarpanch, the police took the couple into custody and produced them in the court on Thursday.
