Social exclusion, rights issues, and inclusive policies
This area overlaps with polity and society in Paper-II and economy in Paper-III. Special focus on schemes and policies related to the following vulnerable social groups is essential to answer questions in this area –
• Women
• Children
• Scheduled Castes
• Scheduled Tribes
• Minorities
• Senior Citizens
• Disabled
The weightage of this area will be maximum 10 marks in Paper I.
Logical Reasoning, analytical ability and data interpretation
This area tests the problem-solving ability and decision-making capacity of students. Regular practice is the best way to score marks in this area.

• The weightage of this area will be maximum 20 marks in Paper I.
Basic English (Class 10 standard)
This area deals with basic grammar such as – parts of speech, tenses, and so on. Practicing grammar workbooks of Classes 8 to 10 of SSC is recommended. The weightage of this area will be a maximum of 5 marks.
PAPER II:
Paper II has three segments – History, Polity and Society – each with a weightage of 50 marks.
Socio-Cultural History of India and Telangana
History has five units out of which three units are on Indian History and two units are on Telangana History.
• Unit I – Ancient Indian History
• Unit II – Medieval Indian History
• Unit III – Modern Indian History
• Unit IV – Ancient and Medieval Telangana History
• Unit V – Modern Telangana History
The focus in both Indian History and Telangana History is on Socio-cultural history. In Paper II of the Group II Examination held in 2016 nearly 45 questions were asked from Telangana History and around 30 questions were asked from Indian History.
Candidates should focus on facts including
• Chronological order of the events in history
• Year/date of an incident, cause and consequence of the incident and people involved
• Historical monuments – year of construction, person who constructed it, its significance
• Important inscriptions – location and person who gave the inscription, content of the inscription
• Books and authors, kings who patronised them
• Society and its features – especially status of women and caste system under different rulers and timelines in history
• Important trade centres, coinage and materials in which trading took place
• All important events of the national freedom struggle, the place and people connected to them, the causes and consequences of the events.

Overview of Indian Constitution and Politics
This subject has nine chapters and its prescribed weightage is about 50 marks. The order of topics in which a candidate is expected to study polity is
• Framing of the Constitution of India
• Salient features of Indian Constitution
• Constitutional Amendment
• Preamble
•`Fundamental Rights
• DPSP
• Fundamental Duties
• Union and State Governments
• Centre and State Relations
• Local Self Government – PRI and Municipalities
• Constitutional and Statutory Bodies
• Election System in India
• Party System in India
• Miscellaneous – union and its Territory, Citizenship, Emergency Provisions, union Territories and Scheduled and Tribal areas.
Apart from the provisions of the Constitution, candidates must focus on
• Article numbers
• Court Judgments – case name, based on which article and what is the court judgment
• Judicial Doctrines
• Committees and Purpose
• Amendment numbers and provisions inserted or deleted
• Authorities – composition, appointed by, qualifications, powers and functions and type of authority
