Hyderabad: Telangana State Human Rights Commission (TGSHRC) has registered a human rights violation case based on a complaint of city-based human rights lawyer Rama Rao Immaneni in connection with unbridled use of banned Chinese manja.
The lawyer said serious incidents of injuries and deaths have been reported across the State related to the usage of banned Chinese manja (Abrasive String). A minor boy, Jashwanth Reddy, suffered serious injuries at Keesara, while Jameel, a person from Shamshergunj, had a deep cut around his neck and received 22 sutures.
Rama Rao sought the TGHRC to issue directions to the Special Chief Secretary (Home) CV Anand to take immediate measures for implementing a total ban against the use of Chinese manja. The matter is likely to be heard on December 30 by the commission chairperson, Justice Dr Shameem Aqtar’s Bench.
