Hyderabad: BC Welfare Association national president R Krishnaiah appealed to Huzurabad voters to defeat BJP candidate Eatala Rajender in the constituency bypoll on October 30. BC organisations and employees’ associations held a meeting at a hotel in the city on Tuesday. The organisations pledged their support to TRS candidate G Srinivas Yadav in Huzurabad bypoll.
Addressing the meeting, Krishnaiah said BJP government at the Centre was against BC communities and found fault with the party for failing to ensure welfare of BC communities. BC reservations, which were implemented right from mandal commission, were opposed by the BJP, he said. Telangana Legislative Assembly had unanimously passed a resolution seeking caste-wise census of the Backward Class to be conducted while holding general census for 2021, he said.
“But the BJP government was not conducting the BC census, citing different reasons. What does this indicate?” he asked.
The Central government had not constructed a single BC hostel. On the contrary, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had set up many gurukuls for BCs. He had also announced that BC Bandhu would be introduced shortly, he said.
“I am getting phone calls from BJP leaders asking me to criticise the Chief Minister, who has been striving for BC welfare in the State,” said Krishnaiah. He stated many BC leaders from BJP had called him and expressed unhappiness over lack of recognition and support in the party.
Central Government Employees Union JAC Chairman Danakarna Chary, BC Sangam president Sharada and others spoke on the occasion.
