Hyderabad: ACB seizes assets worth Rs 9.24 crore in HMDA engineer case

The Anti-Corruption Bureau registered a disproportionate assets case against an HMDA Chief Engineer and conducted searches at multiple locations in Hyderabad. Officials said assets worth Rs 9.24 crore, including properties, cash, gold, vehicles and bank deposits, were uncovered during the operation.

HYDERABAD: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted searches at multiple locations in Hyderabad on Tuesday after registering a disproportionate assets case against B Ravinder, Chief Engineer of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), alleging that he amassed wealth beyond his known sources of income through corrupt practices.

Searches were carried out at Ravinder’s residence, office, and nine other premises linked to his relatives, associates, and alleged benamidars.

During the searches, ACB officials unearthed assets with an official value of about Rs 9.24 crore. The seized properties included five open plots in Kondakal, Kistapur and Pasamula valued at Rs 38.89 lakh; four residential flats at Narsingi and Nanakramguda worth Rs 2.07 crore; four acres of agricultural land at Gudur village in Kothur mandal and Shamshabad valued at Rs 6 lakh; a semi-finished villa at Mokila worth Rs 1.33 crore; and a G 4 building at Masjid Banda, Kondapur valued at Rs 3 crore. The ACB said the market value of these properties is expected to be significantly higher than their official valuation.

Officials also recovered Rs 3.82 lakh in cash, bank balances of about Rs 45.05 lakh, gold ornaments weighing 1.44 kg valued at Rs 36.70 lakh, 12.5 kg of silver ornaments worth Rs 10 lakh, household articles valued at Rs 17.24 lakh, electronic gadgets worth Rs 9.32 lakh, and four vehicles valued at approximately Rs 1.16 crore.

The ACB said Ravinder would be produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases in Hyderabad for judicial remand. Further verification to identify additional assets is underway, and the investigation is continuing.
