Hyderabad: Mild tension prevailed around the Telangana Legislative Assembly on Saturday when the police took into custody several auto rickshaw drivers who tried to stage a protest outside the assembly building.
The auto rickshaw drivers had given a ‘Chalo Assembly’ call for Saturday to highlight their problems and demand the government to fulfill the promises made during the elections.
The auto drivers complained that they are facing financial problems due to the free bus service for women scheme started by the Congress government.
The police took several auto rickshaw drivers into custody and shifted them in police vehicles to different police stations.
The security outside the assembly was beefed up following the protest.
