Hyderabad: Hyderabad-based Sow & Reap Chara Private Limited and Sagar Cements Limited signed a 10-year offtake agreement to drive decarbonization by setting up Integrated Biochar and Gasification Units at Sagar Cements’ plant at Mattampally in the State.
The project aims to decarbonise the energy-intensive calcination stage of cement manufacturing and aligns with global sustainability goals. Syngas produced in the process would be utilised by Sagar Cements as an alternative fuel and biochar would be provided to the farmers as manure.
This deployment is expected to directly reduce approximately 6,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually with a potential to increase to 25,000 tonnes through installation of four such units at a single site, said a press release.
