Hyderabad: An educational technology (edtech) company which helps youngsters gain access to technology skills, NxtWave has raised $2.8 million (approximately Rs 20 crore) in funding. The Hyderabad-based startup was launched amidst the pandemic in September 2020 and has been self-funded until now.
It plans to deploy fresh capital for expanding the team, accelerate product development and penetrate further in the existing markets to scale the revenue in the next 12 months. Founded by IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur and IIIT Hyderabad alumni – Sashank Reddy Gujjula, Anupam Pedarla and Rahul Attuluri respectively, NxtWave offers online cohort-based programmes and courses in the Industry 4.0 tech careers. The startup aims to produce 1 million new-age developers every year, a release from the company said.
In the last 6 months, 250+ companies have hired NxtWave graduates including the likes of Google, Jio etc. NxtWave has built a student community of 200,000+ students from over 3,000 colleges and currently has paid customers from 250+ districts with more than 85 per cent of them coming from non-metros and rural areas.
NxtWave CEO Rahul Attuluri said, “We believe that the Digital Pedagogy must be radically different for small-town India to create transformative learning experiences. We’ve been successful in breaking critical barriers to learning the right skills and achieving a tech job. Our NxtWave learners who are now in successful high-paying tech jobs have started with us from non-engineering degrees, from non-metros and without any programming background.”
