Hyderabad: The works related to redevelopment of the Begumpet Railway Station, being taken up as a part of the ‘Naya Bharat Naya Station’ initiative of Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) of Railway Ministry, is underway at a brisk pace.
As on date, about 90 per cent of the development work has been completed. This includes entry ramps and Foot over Bridge among others.
The facilities for train travellers planned at the redeveloped station include removing unwanted structures, improved lighting, better-circulating area, upgraded parking space, Divyangjan-friendly infrastructure, environment-friendly building using green energy, etc.
Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy on Saturday visited the Begumpet railway station and reviewed the redevelopment works. He was accompanied by South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Arun Kumar Jain and other senior Railway officials.
Later, addressing the media persons at the station, Kishan Reddy informed that 90 per cent of the Begumpet railway station redevelopment works has been completed and the station will soon be dedicated to the nation. “The station is being upgraded on par with airport like standards with an expenditure of Rs 38 crore in a phased manner. The new station will be entirely run by all women staff,” he said.
The Minister stated the railway network in Telangana was now been 100 per cent electrified and a total of 40 railway stations across the State were being redeveloped under ABSS initiative and the works were under progress.
Arun Kumar Jain stated that the Begumpet railway station was being developed as eco-friendly green railway station. “It will be equipped with water recycling plant to cater the needs of greenery at the station,” he said.
