Hyderabad-born woman receives prestigious British Citizen Award
The BCA medals are presented to exceptional individuals each year for their services in different fields such as Education, Healthcare, Volunteering and Charitable giving, Industry and Arts.

Hyderabad: Ragasudha Vinjamuri, a university-academic and trained classical dancer hailing from Hyderabad, has been honoured with the prestigious British Citizen Award (BCA) for her contributions to the field of Art.
The BCA medals are presented to exceptional individuals each year for their services in different fields such as Education, Healthcare, Volunteering and Charitable giving, Industry and Arts.Twenty-six people have been selected from throughout Britain for this round of 2021 awards, with Ragasudha becoming the first Telugu woman to receive this recognition and honour.
The medal ceremony was conducted in the House of Lords of British Parliament, followed by a Lap of Honour and Certificate presentation. Hosted by renowned actor and presenter Tim Vincent, the medals of honour were presented to each of the recipients by outlining their work and how immensely it benefitted the community and society.
Wendy Pretten, Managing Director of Places for People, Dame Mary Perkins- Founder of Specsavers, and several senior figures from the sponsor community including Big Bus London, Objective HR and One Stop were in attendance.
Asked about her inspiration, Ragasudha has acknowledged her Gurus and highlighted dance as a powerful tool in raising awareness on important social, cultural and environmental themes.
