Hyderabad: Tragedy struck a family from the city during a temple visit when a seven-year-old boy allegedly drowned in the Godavari River while taking a holy dip with his family at Bhadrachalam on June 7.
As per available information, the incident occurred when the child identified as Akhil Goud from Ramanthapur in Uppal along with his parents – Dhanunjay Goud and Swapna Goud had gone for a darshan at the Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy Temple in Bhadrachalam.
Before visiting the temple for having a darshan, the family went to the Godavari River for a ritual dip. During the process, Akhil reportedly slipped into deeper waters and drowned.
Efforts of his family members and those around to rescue the boy went in vain. Case is under investigation.
