Hyderabad braces for hot, muggy spell despite September rains

Hyderabad is experiencing a hot and muggy spell despite rain in parts of the city. The IMD expects temperatures to remain around 32-33°C with high humidity through September 12, while thunderstorms and isolated showers are forecast across parts of Telangana.

Hyderabad: With no active low-pressure systems in sight, people in Hyderabad are feeling the strain of an unexpectedly hot and muggy spell in the month of September.

Though it rained in parts of the city on Sunday, the afternoon temperatures in Hyderabad have peaked between 31 degrees Celsius and 32 degrees Celsius, in addition to the surging humidity levels of up to 78 per cent, which have added to the discomfort for the general public.

Based on the weather forecast from IMD, Hyderabad, up to September 12, the weather will continue to remain the same. The maximum temperatures are projected to hover between 32 degree Celsius and 33 degree Celsius, while the nighttime minimum temperatures are expected to range between 24 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius. The humidity levels are also expected to remain on the higher side, in the range of 70 per cent to 75 percent, the IMD, Hyderabad, forecast indicated.

For Monday, September 7, the weather department has issued a thunderstorm warning accompanied by lightning and gusty winds for isolated locations in Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal districts of Telangana. The rest of the coming week is expected to feature light to moderate showers at isolated locations over Telangana, the IMD Hyderabad forecast on Sunday added.
