Hyderabad: When it comes to biryani, the Hyderabadi knows no compromise.

And that no compromise attitude is believed to have triggered a full blown brawl in a hotel in Mailardevpally on Wednesday, with the incident ending in the police rushing to the spot and having to book two cases.

The episode began unfurling when one youngster went to the hotel located on the Mailardevpally main road to have chicken biryani. As the dish was served, the customer got disappointed that there were only very few pieces of chicken in the biryani. What started with him pointing it out to the waiter, slowly snowballed into an argument when the hotel manager intervened. The argument escalated soon, ending in fisticuffs between the manager and the customer. Others in the hotel too joined in, with the hapless customer ending up on the wrong side and taking quite a few blows.

An onlooker is said to have called the police, who reached the spot and dispersed the crowed. The police booked two cases, one against the customer and the other against the manager of the hotel.

Biryani is long known to trigger passionate responses from Hyderabadis, with a youngster in the city recently taking to Twitter, tagging IT Minister KT Rama Rao as well, pointing out that the chicken biryani he had ordered on a food delivery app came, but without the extra masala and leg piece he had specifically asked for.
