Hyderabad: The Kachiguda police nabbed four persons involved in several attention diversion cases and recovered Rs.20 lakh on Wednesday.
The arrested persons were Mohd Rafeeq Ibrahim Kalaburgi (45), a car dealer from Karnataka, who was earlier involved in sandalwood smuggling and extortion cases in Karnataka; B.Srinivas (55), a realtor from Maharashtra; Panduranga Rao (52) from Kukatpally; and M.Anvesh Kumar (32), a private employee from Mancherial district. Two suspects, Vikas Gautam and Amith Patel, were absconding.
City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said the complainant Mohd Abdul Afroz saw an advertisement on Facebook posted by Vikas Gautam offering gold at a cheaper rate, after which he contacted Gautam asking for 1kg of gold. Gautam asked Afroz to contact his associates in Hyderabad and they showed him gold biscuits. Afroz later handed over Rs.38.5 lakh to Anvesh, after which the gang diverted his attention and fled.
Following a complaint, the Kachiguda police booked a case and nabbed the gang.
