Hyderabad: Cricket coach Sunder Rao passes away
As physical director of Wesley Junior and Degree College, the institution won as many 19 titles in the under-16 and under-19 tournaments of the Hyderabad Cricket Association.
Hyderabad: There was another tragedy on the cricket front as Sunder Rao, physical instructor, and cricket coach, died here on Saturday. He was 69. He is survived by his wife, son, and daughter.
An ardent sports lover, Sunder Rao had a highly successful record as a coach. As physical director of Wesley Junior and Degree College, the institution won as many 19 titles in the under-16 and under-19 tournaments of the Hyderabad Cricket Association.
Sunder Rao joined Jahnavi College and the team won the under-19 championship in 2019-20.
According to Imran Mehmood, Sunder Rao had the knack of spotting young talent. “He was a good mentor to many young cricketers. He had a very good record as a coach. Winning 19 titles for Wesley is a fine achievement,’’ he said.
