Hyderabad crime rate drops 17 pc in 11 months, cybercrime and property offenses decline
Hyderabad’s crime rate fell 17% from September 2024 to August 2025. FIRs dropped from 38,206 to 31,533, with notable declines in cybercrime, property offenses, rape, and kidnapping, while dowry death cases increased, according to Police Commissioner C.V. Anand.

Hyderabad: The crime rate in the city came down by 17 percent in the last 11 months (September 2024 to August 2025) compared to the same period (September 2023 to August 2024). The police registered 31,533 FIRs during the current period as against 38,206 FIRs during the previous period.The cyber crime cases witnessed a decline of 14 per cent, kidnapping – 12 per cent and murder – 14 per cent.
Hyderabad Commissioner of Police, C V Anand who held a review meeting with the city police officials appreciated them for reduction of crime rate. “The Hyderabad police have demonstrated commendable performance in tackling cyber crime. Not only has the number of cases declined, but the detection rate has also improved from 40 percent to 42 per cent,” he said. There is a reduction in property offenses in the city. A total of 5484 cases were registered between September 2023 to August 2024 while it came down by 26 per cent with police booking 4082 cases for property offenses between September 2024 and August 2025.
There is also reduction of 23 percent in rape cases, 10 per cent in kidnapping, 20 per cent in outraging modestyof women but an increase of 18 per cent in dowry death cases.
“The Hyderabad police have worked together as a team to safeguard peace and security, achieving remarkable results,” said C V Anand.
