Hyderabad Cybercrime Police helps victims recover Rs 21.9 lakh from fraudsters
Cases booked, police guide complainants in filing petition in court for refund
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cybercrime Police have refunded a total of Rs 21.9 lakh to the victims of cyber frauds in five different cases, which were booked in 2024.
In one case, a 54-year-old private employee was cheated by fraudsters to the tune of Rs 9.9 lakh with offers of jobs in Australia.
In another incident, a 40-year-old doctor was duped of Rs 44 lakh on the pretext of stock trading and investments.
A 31-year-old woman private employee was cheated and extorted by fraudsters to the tune of Rs 19.9 lakh in the guise of FedEx courier.
In another instance, a 76-year-old was duped of Rs 50 lakh in a financial fraud.
In yet another case, a 40 year-old business man was duped to the tune of Rs 48 lakh by cyber crooks, who promised high returns on stock trading.
Cases were booked and notices were issued to the bank officials concerned to freeze the fraudulent amount.
The police further guided the complainants in filing a petition in court for the refund of the held funds.
The banks refunded the amount to the victims’ accounts.
