Hyderabad Cybercrime police arrested 46 people in November for alleged cyber fraud. The accused were linked to 232 cases and Rs 92 crore in bank transactions. Several electronic devices, debit cards and fake ID proofs were seized.

Three persons from Gujarat were arrested in Kumram Bheem Asifabad for cheating people through cyber frauds. They allegedly withdrew Rs 7 lakh from a victim’s bank account and were linked to similar cases in Tamil Nadu and other States, police said.

In recent months, there has been an alarming surge in the number of scam calls targeting citizens. Those who are gullible become victims of online frauds and end up losing everything from money to identity.

Of the total amount, Rs. 36.8 crore has been refunded in the Cyberabad commissionerate, making it as the top unit in terms of refunds processed.

She said Telangana is known for being the first State in the country with a fully operational 1930 Helpline managed by the TGCSB, and continues to lead in freezing and reclaiming victims' money from fraudsters' bank accounts.

Police constables Shravan Kumar and Jyothi raised understanding of kids over various services offered by the SHE team.

ACP said that India was one of the fastest growing countries in the world in terms of digitisation and technological advancement.

The cyber fraudsters after obtaining the database of those keen on investing in the share market are contacting them through WhatsApp and directing them to telegram groups or website.

Around 650 cyber fraud cases pertained to investment fraud with the amount lost said to be around Rs 22.60 crore followed by 672 cases of customer care fraud (Rs 5.6 crore) and 572 cases of advertisement fraud (Rs 4.90 crore)

Cybercrime officials say people who were duped on social media and e-commerce platforms are not taking legal help, and don't seriously until a considerable amount is siphoned off from their bank accounts.
