Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Police Special Operations Team along with the Abdullapurmet police on Saturday nabbed four persons at Pedda Amberpet on the city outskirts and seized 80 kilos of marijuana, two cars and other material, altogether worth Rs.32.5 lakh from them.
The arrested persons were V Mukesh (25), Chouhan Srinivas (23) and Rathod Naveen (22), all three from Sangareddy district, and V Anil (22) from Medak. Three suspects, V Maruthi from Sangareddy and Ramesh and Kamesh from Visakhapatnam, were absconding.
According to the police, Mukesh along with Srinivas and Maruthi went to Araku Valley on a trip last year, where he met Ramesh, a local drug peddler. Ramesh offered to sell two kg of marijuana for Rs.2,000, asking them to sell it for Rs.40,000 in Hyderabad. Maruthi invested about Rs.80,000 to procure the drug and to start a business,” Sunpreeth Singh, DCP (LB Nagar) said.
On February 18, the gang rented a car from one Srinu of Medak and after pasting a ‘Press’ sticker on it, they went to Lambasinghi in Visakhapatnam, where they met Ramesh and bought 80 kg of marijuana at Rs.80,000.
On the way back, when they reached near the Outer Ring Road toll plaza at Pedda Amberpet, a police team intercepted the car and nabbed them.
