Hyderabad: “Sports is not new to the Ramoji Group. We have been at the forefront of promoting not just cricket but many sports over the last couple of decades,” says Brihathi Cherukuri, owner of Hyderabad E-Champions, which was also the most expensive franchise in the TG20 League.
For the record, former Ranji star Anirudh Singh is the head coach of the team.
“The whole vision is to scout talent, groom them into champion performers and that remains our only objective. We look at this League as an opportunity to provide a perfect platform for young talent, and many of our team members have also played in the Ranji Trophy and are dreaming of playing for the country,” Brihathi said in a chat with ‘Telangana Today’ on Tuesday.
“We ourselves have been conducting State-level league cricket championships in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for quite a long time and the response has been tremendous in terms of participation and unearthing talent too,” she said.
“Well, our strategy is guided by the coaches who picked young and genuine talent, from whom we are expecting stellar performances, as all the players are excited about the huge opportunity presented to them and are keen to prove themselves. We have a lot of faith in our support staff too,” Brihathi said.
“It is pertinent to note that another CSR initiative of the Ramoji Group is Eenadu Lakshya, where we pick athletes from different sports by going into the interiors just to ensure that no genuine talent is found wanting for support. Two of our athletes under this initiative have won some of the country’s highest awards too,” she said.
