Hyderabad: The Kukatpally police on Saturday arrested a former employee of Bounce for stealing the company’s scooters from parking lots. Five scooters were recovered.
The arrested person was identified as A Naresh (30) from Shankarpalle in Vikarabad. He worked as a technician for the company from 2018 till the lockdown in 2020, during which he gained knowledge of scooter’s technical aspects, police said, adding that due to financial constraints, Naresh started stealing scooters from parking areas in the last two months.
“He targeted parked vehicles and towed them away to secluded places where he removed the GPS tracking system, the company logo, barcode board and the keypad locking system. He fixed manual locking systems and changed the colour and tried to sell the vehicles,” police said, adding that following a tip-off, the Kukatpally police caught Naresh and recovered the scooters from him.
