Hyderabad: To be able to rush help in case of fire emergencies at the Osmania General Hospital, the Telangana State Disaster Response and Emergency Services department has set up an outpost at the hospital.
The outpost had come up in the southern side of the hospital and is located behind the Afzalgunj police station. A fire tender and a couple of water mist fire fighting motorcycles are stationed at the outpost round-the-clock.
“The hospital authorities provided the land to the fire department for setting up the outpost. It was necessary considering the huge number of in-patients and regular flow of out-patients at the hospital,” explained a senior fire official.
The fire station apart from attending emergencies at the hospital including fire-fighting and rescue operations will also attend fire calls from nearby areas.
The fire department already had set up an outpost at Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad where a fire tender is stationed round-the-clock.
Meanwhile, the department has also been monitoring the fire fighting capabilities at private medical and health establishments across the city. “We are visiting private hospitals and carrying out regular inspections. Wherever negligence is noticed on part of the managements, notices are being issued to them,” the official added.
