Medak: In a tragic incident, a would-be bride sustained serious fractures in both her legs while her brother died in a road accident near Chandur village on Tuesday night. The woman, Sathari Renuka (25), and her younger brother, Parushuram (23), of Chilipched village, were returning home on their bike after visiting a relative’s house in Chandur.
An unidentified car hit them from behind on the outskirts of Chandur on Tuesday night. While Parushuram died on the spot, Renuka sustained serious injuries and both her legs were fractured after the car ran over them. The family was preparing for Renuka’s marriage scheduled to take place in a week.
The pre-marriage rituals were set to begin on Wednesday. However, the family performed the funeral of Parushuram on Wednesday instead. Renuka, who was initially rushed to the government hospital in Jogipet, was later shifted to Osmania Hospital in Hyderabad for further treatment after her condition turned critical. A pall of gloom descended on the village. The police registered a case.
