Hyderabad: HMDA officials have said that Ganesh idol immersion on the Tank Bund road will be permitted only after 10 pm on Sunday (September 12) and that too from the Sailing Club/ Marriott Hotel side.

“Any immersion before 10 pm is not permissible on Tank Bund road and should be done on NTR Marg or towards People’s Plaza side on PVNR marg. All immersions shall be in accordance with directives issued by the High Court. This is done to ensure the safety of families/pedestrians on the Tank Bund road and all are requested to cooperate,” HMDA officials said in a press release.

Meanwhile, the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi on Saturday has asked the State government to intervene and make arrangements for Ganesh idol immersion. The demand came following the High Court’s directions on Thursday asking authorities not to allow immersion of Ganesh idols made of Plaster of Paris in Hussain Sagar.

“The State government should file a review petition or approach the Supreme Court on the issue of idol immersion and make necessary arrangements,” Samithi general secretary Bhagwant Rao told the media. “We are waiting for the authorities to act. There is very little time left to make immersion arrangements,” he said.
