Hyderabad: M Eshwaraiah, a Home Guard from the Saroornagar Lake Police, saved the lives of six persons who attempted to die by suicide in the lake in the last six months. Eshwaraiah (45) from Maheshwaram joined the police force in 2000 and since then, has worked at various police stations including Kandukur, Maheshwaram and Ibrahimpatnam. He is now in-charge at the lake outpost, Saroornagar Tank.
“In the last six months, he saved six persons including four women from suicide,” Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said, adding that on Friday too, Eshwaraiah rescued a man who jumped into the lake and attempted suicide, allegedly due to a love failure.

The Commissioner, who felicitated Eshwaraiah with a cash reward on Saturday, said the cop’s name would be recommended for the Prime Minister’s medal for his selfless efforts in saving lives.
