Hyderabad: The three-day 9th biennial Aparna Cancer Crusaders Golf Championship, a flagship fundraiser and cancer awareness initiative, tees off on Friday at the Boulder Hills Golf & Country Club here.
Hosted by Cure Foundation in association with Apollo Cancer Centres, the event features over 450 golfers vying for top honours.
Golfers will compete across four rounds played over five sessions across three days, following the Double Peoria Stableford format (100 per cent Handicap), promising thrilling competition, sportsmanship and high-quality golfing action. Handicaps will be generated using 12 hidden holes (six on the front nine and six on the back nine), with the Peoria holes drawn after submission of scorecards from the final session. The maximum score per hole will be Gross Double Bogey; players with handicaps above 24 may pick up after Triple Bogey, with Double Bogey recorded.
Dr P Vijay Anand Reddy said the next three days would witness golfing of the highest calibre, with some of the country’s most talented players and passionate amateurs competing shoulder to shoulder.
Dr Reddy said that the Cure Foundation, through its association with Apollo Cancer Centres, Hyderabad, had enabled free or subsidised quality cancer treatment for over 1,500 cancer survivors, while also supporting rehabilitation, research and education programmes. “As a Foundation, we firmly believe that money finds its true value only when it touches a life and creates a meaningful difference,” he added.
