Hyderabad: The Osmania University Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC) Director P Raghupathi’s short film has brought laurels to the university at the international level.
Raghupathi was recently honored with the best short film award for the short film ‘Reaching the Unreached’ in the development category at the prestigious 16th International Short Film Festival held in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. He bagged a cash prize of Rs.50,000, a trophy, and a certificate. The short film has also been selected for screening in the human rights category.
The short film sheds light on the lives of tribal families in the forest regions of Mulugu and Bhupalpally districts, who migrated from Chhattisgarh due to political conflicts. With the help of OU students, nine single-teacher schools under the banner of Bhim Children’s Happiness Centres were established, offering pre-primary education to tribal children and preparing them for government ashram schools.
OU Vice Chancellor Prof. Molugaram lauded the efforts of the students and the EMRC team for highlighting the lives of children from tribal areas who live in isolation from mainstream society.
The VC donated a cash prize to the Santhosh Isram Mitra Group, which works to provide education to Guthi Koya children through their innovative Bhim Children’s Happiness Centres.
Raghupathi, the film’s producer, pledged to continue creating impactful films that raise awareness about social issues. He emphasized that the success of ‘Reaching the Unreached’ underscored the power of storytelling in fostering social change and education.
