Hyderabad: A technical glitch in Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) faced ended up disrupting several customer related services on Thursday.

The Water Board in a press release informed customers that the metro customer care number: 155313 was temporarily not operational due to an IVRS technical issue.

The BSNL technical team is working urgently to resolve the problem, the water board said while advising customers to use alternative methods for water tanker booking as per their needs.

Customers can book a tanker online through the HMWSSB official website: www.hyderabadwater.gov.in by logging in, entering the required details and completing the booking.

The facility is also available through the mobile app, which customers can download to register and book, according to a press release.

Or else, that the customers may also contact the nearest Water Board section office or water supply office to request a tanker. In emergencies, they have been asked to contact the local lineman or field staff for services.

The disruption affected callers who used the IVRS-based metro customer care system to register complaints and seek assistance, while tanker bookings were totally paralysed from the early hours.

Metro Customer Care was the key access point for over 14.45 lakh consumers to book tankers and register complaints regarding water supply and sewerage network issues.

In August 2025, the HMWSSB faced a similar situation and, after a gap of one week, the technical glitch was resolved. This was the second time in the span of nine months.

For the HMWSSB, it was a hilarious task to handle the mobile tanker booking and delivery system in this situation. For the past couple of months, tanker bookings started and reached a peak.

“All efforts are on to tackle the tanker delivery system,” a senior HMWSSB official told Telangana Today. The Water Board officials also said that the issue would be resolved as soon as possible and services would be restored to normal.
