Hyderabad: In the case of attempted sexual assault on a young woman in an MMTS train, the Secunderabad, Cyberabad, SOT, CCS and GRP police have jointly launched a massive manhunt for the suspect.
It is learnt that though police have zeroed-in on an old offender and detained him, the victim was unable to identify him. A total of 13 special teams are searching for the suspect.
As per available information, the photo of the suspect when shown to the victim, she was unable to identify him, making the case challenging for investigators. It is not yet clear whether the investigating teams are utilising any kinds of scientific analysis to identify and catch the suspect.
It is however, learnt that the suspect is also a drug addict and was separated from his family.
Several suspects have already been detained and are being interrogated. The police have examined more than 200 CCTV cameras from the crime spot all through the route from Secunderabad railway station to Gundlapochampally, covered nearly 11 railway stations on the route covering about 28 km.
The police are forming several teams and combing the areas around 14 railway stations from Secunderabad railway station to Gundlapochampally.
There is some delay in identifying the accused due to the lack of CCTV cameras in the backdrop of construction work going on at the Secunderabad railway station.
The police have confirmed in the preliminary investigation that the accused entered the women’s coach at Alwal railway station, where two women passengers de-boarded the train.
