Hyderabad: Organs of brain dead headmaster donated under Jeevandan

The attending surgeons from the private hospital retrieved liver (01), kidneys (02) and corneas (02), a total of 5 organs, which were allocated to five needy patients based on organ donation guidelines

Hyderabad: Family members of a 64-year-old retired headmaster, V Ram Mohan, a resident of Hanumanpet, Malkajgiri, Rangareddy, who was declared as brain dead by attending teams of doctors, have decided to donate his organs to needy patients as part of Jeevandan organ donation initiative.

On May 4, Ram Mohan complained of giddiness and collapsed in his house. The family members rushed him to a private hospital for treatment, where he was given emergency treatment but his health condition did not improve. The attending team of doctors declared him as brain dead on May 8.


The victim’s wife, Vijaya Laxmi gave consent to donate his organs. The attending surgeons from the private hospital retrieved liver (01), kidneys (02) and corneas (02), a total of 5 organs, which were allocated to five needy patients based on organ donation guidelines.

Jeevandan Telangana has extended its profound gratitude to the family members of V Ram Mohan family, whose noble decision has saved lives and inspiration. The Jeevandan initiative has so far reached a significant milestone with 78 brain- dead donations recorded in this year, and today was the 79th donation, a press release added.
