Hyderabad: The Outer Ring Road (ORR) Exit 17 service road was closed on Thursday following significant inflows released from Himayatsagar.
The exit was closed to manage an increased water volume and ensure safety in the surrounding areas.
Heavy inflows, triggered by recent heavy rainfall in the upstream area, led to increased water levels in Himayatsagar. Following this, the HMWSSB released excess water to prevent potential flooding, necessitating the shutdown of the ORR service road to facilitate the operation.
Inspector of Rajendra Nagar police, Kastro Reddy, told Telangana Today that one foot of floodwater is passing over the ORR service road at Exit 17, causing inconvenience to road users. “Commuters are advised to choose alternative routes due to heavy inflows,” he said, adding that the service road would remain closed until the inflows stabilised.
Meanwhile, Cyberabad traffic cops are deployed at the service road and diverting traffic.
