The ORR Exit 17 service road in Hyderabad was closed after heavy inflows from Himayatsagar caused flooding. Police advised motorists to use alternate routes as traffic diversions are in place until water levels return to normal.

HMWSSB officials opened the third floodgate of Himayatsagar reservoir at 10 am on Friday, releasing surplus water into the Musi River. Three gates, each lifted to one-foot height, are regulating an outflow of 1,044 cusecs against 4,000 cusecs inflow.
Due to continuous rains in upstream regions, floodwaters have entered Hyderabad’s Himayatsagar and Osmansagar reservoirs. As a preventive measure, one of Himayat Sagar’s floodgates was opened to release 339 cusecs of surplus water into the Musi River.
Following heavy rains in Hyderabad, the HMWSSB announced that one floodgate of Himayatsagar reservoir will be opened at 10 pm on Thursday. Officials and the public have been advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions
