Hyderabad: As part of a focused road safety enforcement drive, the Hyderabad Traffic Police (HTP) booked a total of 21,713 cases against motorists for alleged wrong-side driving during the first week of February.
The special drive was carried out from February 2 to 9 to curb dangerous traffic violations that contribute to accidents and congestion across the city. Officials said action was taken under relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Traffic police said that wrong-side driving poses a serious risk to both violators and other road users, prompting intensified checks at key locations.
“Along with enforcement, awareness programmes and online outreach are being used to encourage disciplined and responsible driving,” they said.
Motorists have been advised to follow traffic rules strictly and report violations through official traffic police channels.
