Hyderabad: With a large number of devotees expected to travel for the Medaram Jatara, the Hyderabad Police have launched a child safety wristband initiative to prevent children from getting separated in crowded areas.
A special stall was inaugurated at Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS), Afzalgunj, on Tuesday to issue QR-code–enabled wristbands for children. The initiative is being implemented by the Hyderabad City Police in association with Vodafone Idea (VI).
The stall was inaugurated by DCP Golconda Zone, G Chandra Mohan, in the presence of senior police officials and MGBS authorities.
Each wristband carries a unique QR code containing essential details such as the child’s name, parent or guardian’s name, contact number, and residential address.
In case a child goes missing, police personnel or volunteers can scan the QR code to quickly identify and reunite the child with their family.
Afzalgunj Police have appealed to parents and guardians traveling through MGBS to make use of the facility and ensure a safe journey during the jatara.
