Hyderabad: The police raided a printing press and seized nearly 1,000 books allegedly propagating Maoist ideology that were being printed at Moosarambagh in Amberpet on Friday.
Following a tip-off, a police team, led by East Zone DCP M Ramesh, raided a printing press and found the books containing banned Maoist literature, including speeches and articles related to Maoist leader Akkiraju Haragopal alias Ramakrishna alias RK, who passed away recently.
“The printing of the books were done at the behest of RK’s wife Sirisha. We did not find any receipts with regard to the printing. Further investigation is on,” a senior police official said.
Other Maoist literature, computers and printers were seized from the spot during the raids that continued late into the night. Sources said the owner of the printing press, was allegedly a sympathizer of the Maoist party.
