Hyderabad: Rachakonda Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu on Saturday reviewed security and arrangements for the upcoming Ganesh festival and idol immersion.

He directed officials to ensure peaceful celebrations without any untoward incidents and asked police to coordinate with GHMC, electricity, fire, irrigation and medical departments. He emphasised visible policing, extensive use of CCTV cameras and quick response to Dial-100 calls.

The Commissioner instructed that no DJ systems be permitted at pandals, safety measures be taken to avoid electrical hazards, and proper facilities such as lighting, barricades, drinking water, mobile toilets and medical aid be arranged at immersion points.

Additional pickets will be deployed at sensitive areas, and a close watch will be kept on rowdy-sheeters and anti-social elements, he added.
