Hyderabad: Several roads and stretches in the city have become a nightmare for commuters and residents, with their poor condition not only causing inconvenience but also posing serious danger.
Many arterial roads are riddled with potholes, overflowing drains and waterlogging, putting the lives of daily commuters, particularly motorists, at risk.
In areas such as Bholakpur, Kavadiguda, Warasiguda, Gandhi Nagar, Musheerabad and surrounding localities, the roads have become almost impassable.
During the monsoon, residents are often forced to navigate large potholes and trenches filled with water, a risky affair as there is no alternative. Two-wheeler riders are especially vulnerable.
“The road is often flooded with rainwater and overflowing sewage. There are several potholes and loose gravel that pose a risk for motorists,” said Mohd Ahmed of Kavadiguda.
In several places, the main roads are filled with large craters, creating serious challenges for commuters. During rains, water accumulates in these potholes, increasing the risk of accidents and injuries to local residents.
Meanwhile, civic authorities appear to have turned a deaf ear to repeated pleas from citizens to address the situation.
