Hyderabad: Sixteen children working illegally in a printing press were rescued by the Rachakonda Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) on Tuesday. The police arrested three persons who employed them in the factory.
Acting on a tip-off, the AHTU team raided SP Hi-tech Printer Private Limited at IDA Nacharam and found the children aged between 13 and 16 years from West Bengal working in inhumane conditions. The police arrested Sunkari Sudhakar (45) director of the company, Md Hasibul Islam (32) and Jalauddin (20) labour contractors who are natives of West Bengal.
“The two contractors brought the children from West Bengal assuring good pay and accommodation and were making them work for around 12 hours a day on very low wages. The contractor was getting Rs.1,000 as commission a month per child,” Rachakonda Commissioner of Police Mahesh Bhagwat said. The rescued children were shifted to a shelter home.
