Hyderabad soaks in Milad-un-Nabi fervour

Hyderabad: Religious fervour and gaiety marked Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Mohammed, celebrations across the city on Tuesday. The auspicious Milad-un-Nabi falls on the 12th day of the ‘Rabi-ul-Awal’ month, the third month of the Islamic calendar.
On the occasion, several programmes were organised across the city by various religious organisations and social networking groups. A public meeting was conducted by the All India Tameer-e-Millat at Numaish Grounds, Nampally in which religious scholars participated and addressed the crowd.
A mega blood donation camp was organised at the Asafia Library, Afzalgunj while similar camps were organised at Mallepally, Attapur, Rajendranagar, Barkas, Yakutpura, Secunderabad, Mehdipatnam and other places in the city. Free health camps were also conducted by a few hospitals in various pockets of the city.

On the streets, several colony residents groups and traders’ associations arranged food camps and served ‘biryani’ to people.
A massive procession was taken out by the Sunni United Forum of India (SUFI) from Falaknuma to Moghalpura in which thousands of people participated. The procession passed through Engine Bowli, Aliabad, Shahalibanda, Charminar, Madina Building, Nayapul, Darulshifa, Alijah Kotla before culminating at Moghalpura playground.
Several smaller processions were also taken out from different areas like Bowenpally, Erragadda, Sanathnagar, Rajendranagar, L.B Nagar, Moula Ali and other places in the city. The police had made elaborate arrangements for smooth conduct of the processions.
