Hyderabad: Three dupe people of lakhs with fake insurance, arrested

According to police, the trio claimed to make instant automobile insurances and renewals at low rates and with attractive offers, collected money from several motorists

Hyderabad: The RGIA police caught a three-member gang of Regional Transport Authority (RTA) agents on charges of preparing fake automobile insurance documents and cheating people to the tune of several lakhs, on Friday.

The arrested were identified as Mohd Awyes Ali (43) from Bahadurpura, B Shravan Kumar Goud (42) from Thondupally in Shamshabad and M Shiva Kumar (36) from Kakloor in Shabad. All three are RTA agents.

According to the police, the trio claimed to make instant automobile insurances and renewals at low rates and with attractive offers, collected money from several motorists.

Further, they prepared fake automobile insurance documents of various reputed insurance companies using photocopy machines and gave them to the customers.

The fraud came to light when one such customer went to the insurance company to clarify doubts regarding the insurance claim. Based on a complaint, the RGIA police booked a case and arrested the trio. They suspect there could be many victims of the fraud and RTA agents who supported the trio.
